"Interviewer: So, taking what we talked about today, I think one of the things we want to do is make sure we use it and move forward to help solve some of these problems. So, how do we—between the employer community and the higher education community—how do we keep this conversation going? How do we connect on these internships? How do we make sure we don't lose the issues raised today? How do we act on those? Any thoughts on what we could do?

Employer: A LinkedIn group. We're all using LinkedIn."

"Employer 1: The North Hennepin Area Chamber Board also has a committee, and it's the business and educational professionals committee; it brings in educators from the area high schools as well as the area colleges. So, we have North Hennepin represented and North Hennepin Tech, Rasmussen. I represent the business side and then we have a Channel 12 person and several different industries there. And that's been a great way for me to make connections in terms of how we can help each other if it's scholarship events, if it's job-shadowing, or if it's e-mentoring. So, it really brings us together. I wouldn't normally have those connections—where we try to figure out what the schools need and what the colleges need versus simply what the businesses need. It's been a great partnership.

Employer 2: Can I ask what positions in the colleges are on that committee?

Employer 1: Usually it's the people that are recruiting for people that are going to their particular organization. With the high schools, it's typically the career counselors.

Employer 2: Okay, but not the faculty?

Employer 1: Right. We haven't had any faculty join that committee."

"I think there's a real need for grassroots involvement between let's say the financial institutions and the community colleges of Greater Minnesota. I don't have any answers as to how to make that happen." Metro
