Course: Nursing Refresher for RNs and LPNs
This course is designed for nurses who are licensed in Minnesota and wish to renew their registration. It includes a review of current nursing processes, procedures, skills, diagnostic tests, medications and documentation. We will also introduce you to hospital clinical computing for medication administration and documentation. The course includes clinical experience in an acute or long-term care setting. The scope of practice for LPNs and RNs will be clearly defined. If you do not have a current license, you must contact the Minnesota Board of Nursing prior to attending class. Requirements include: Proof of a Mantoux Test within the past year or a chest x-ray stating you are disease free. Proof of MMR and chickenpox vaccinations or titer positive for immunity (if born after 1956) for clinicals in acute care settings. A temporary license (if yours is not current) is also required for clinical practice. In addition, you must have basic computer skills including: identifying, opening, minimizing, toggling and closing objects on the Windows desktop; using the mouse and function keys; creating simple word processing documents and using an email system. Bio: Cynthia Ashley, BSN, PHN, Parish Nurse. Cynthia works as a hospice and home care visiting nurse, parish nurse and MCTC nursing and community health care worker faculty member. She directed home services in assisted living, designed medical management programs and has an extensive training and development background.
