Continue Your Employer-Based Policy

Explore your options for Continuation of Health Coverage (COBRA) with your former employer. If you qualify, you may have to pay the entire cost of the health insurance yourself. Many employers pay for at least part of the health care plan for active employees. This makes insurance through your employer less expensive than if you buy it on your own. Several programs are available. Together they are called Minnesota Health Care Programs. These programs are available to people whose income and assets are below certain limits.

Buy an Individual Policy

Individuals and families can use MNsure, Minnesota's online marketplace, to compare and choose healthcare plans. Open enrollment is November 1, 2017 - January 14, 2018.  

Special enrollments, outside of the open period, is available for those experiencing life-changing events like the loss of health coverage or birth of a child.
